College may be a thing of the past, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean summer vacations have to be, too. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
On that note, I am beyond excited to say that I’ll be spending 12 days in Europe at the beginning of June to visit my best friend studying abroad in Barcelona. As is often the case whenever the two of us are together, there will be live music involved–and lots of it.
Because why travel halfway around the world if there isn’t some sort of music festival in the mix? Kidding…kind of.

Sonar Barcelona is not your ordinary music festival. Celebrating it’s 21st year as one of the most cutting-edge art and music events in the world, “its interactions and hybridizations with digital creation and new media, unites established artists with emerging talent, in all areas of musical and audiovisual production.” If that doesn’t sound like a damn good time I don’t know what does.
The lineup is so perfectly balanced with two fat hand fulls of my favorite DJs and so many that I have never even heard of, but I know will inevitably blow my mind.
Pretty Lights? Check. Bonobo Live? Double Check. Boys Noize? Triple Check. Moderat? Quadruple check. I could go on for days.
But for those DJs I haven’t seen: Richie Hawtin, Caribou, Four Tet, Trentemøller, Jon Hopkins, Ryan Hemsworth…gahhh I’m really sorry, but I CAN’T EVEN.
insanely good music + stellar audiovisual production + one of the most beautiful cities in the world = absolute perfection. Only one month and one 8 hour plane ride until I’m right smack dab in the middle of it.
